Pieter Nel, President     

Pieter Nel

President, MineRP Global

Pieter Nel has been with MineRP since its inception in 1998. With some 20 years of experience in mining and consulting he initially headed up the MRM team in the old GMSI.  He later managed the mining technical solutions and integration (MTS&I) division of MineRP – the division specializing in the development of enterprise mining technical solutions in the company.
Pieter was appointed Managing Director of MineRP in 2006, and under his leadership the company has transformed from a loose collection of international offices to a modern international organization with a clear strategy and well defined technology and services portfolio.

Pieter has a background in management consulting, which started in 1991 with Byrne Fleming Consulting.  Most of his work was done in the mining industry, where he focussed on process reengineering and business optimisation initiatives.  His consulting experience lead him to Kingsley McAdams consultancy (KMC), which was subsequently acquired by MineRP.

Pieter Neethling

 

Pieter Neethling

Vice President, Australasia

Pieter Neethling is responsible for the management and growth of MineRP’s Software and Consulting services in Australasia.  He joined the MineRP team in 2011 and works out of the Brisbane office.  Pieter has fulfilled various roles in his career commencing with 8 years in a mine production environment for a major mining company.  This was followed by 10 years in the explosive industry with Sasol Nitro fulfilling several roles from Explosives Engineer, Product Development Manager to Regional Business Manager.  His growing interest in mining technical systems led him to MineRP (then GMSI) in 2000 and later to AngloGold Ashanti where he was responsible for, amongst others, the management, evaluation and deployment of appropriate technology solutions for the Mineral Resource Management department. 

Prior to joining MineRP, Pieter was the Global Solution Executive – Mining & Metals for Bentley Systems.   Pieter obtained a Higher National Diploma in Mining Engineering at the University of Johannesburg and completed a Management Development Programme at the school for Business Leadership at the University of South Africa.

Andrew Vehkala 

 

Andrew Vehkala

Vice President, Americas

Andrew Vehkala is responsible for management and growth of MineRP’s Software and Consulting in the North America, Latin America and Eurasian Regions.  He joined MineRP in its Canadian offices in 2003 and has worked through the ranks from Mining Consultant, Consulting Manager, and Operations Manager.  Prior to joining MineRP, Andrew worked in Mining Simulation with Vale’s (then INCO) Mines Research Division, based in Sudbury, Ontario.
Andrew received a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto, and completed graduate course work in Mineral Resource Engineering at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario.

Mike Woodhall

 

Mike Woodhall

Vice President, Growth

Mike Woodhall is a Mining Engineer out of Sydney University with 40 years’ experience in the mining industry.

He has exposure to various mining companies and commodities with different mining methods in both production and project roles. This practical mining exposure has been enhanced with a MBA from University of Cape Town and MSc from University of the Witwatersrand.

Since joining GMSI in 1998 he has focused on a process-based approach to understanding the mining business and its information needs; particularly in the area of Mineral Resource Management.

Bruce MacBeth

 

Bruce MacBeth

Vice President, Business Development

Bruce  has 20 years’ experience in the development of mining IT systems, consulting and business development specifically in the mining environment.  Previously manager of MineRP's mining consulting division in South Africa, Bruce has taken on repsonsiblity for global business development in 2009

John Megannon

 

John Megannon

Vice President, Technology

John comes from an accounting background and has more than 25 years’ experience in mostly Technology, Services and Consulting spheres, and has started up and exited several businesses into larger, listed ICT companies.  Joining MineRP in 2007, John oversees strategy development and software engineering.

Monte Hague

 

Monte Hague

Chief Technology Officer

Monte Hague is the lead architect and technology evangelist for the mineRP product suite, and responsible for creating and driving the development of the mineRP product strategy.
Monte has spent the last 15 years as an IT professional in the Mining Industry, and prior to that 5 years in the Engineering Software Industry. He also worked for 5 years as an Electrical Engineer in the Electrical Utility Industry. Monte holds a bachelor of Engineering degree from Wits University and a bachelor of Commerce degree in Software Systems from UNISA.

Naas Grove

 

Naas Grové

Vice President, Consulting

Naas Grové holds a BTh from the University of South Africa and completed the Senior Management Development Program at the University of Pretoria with distinction in 2003.  He is currently responsible for global management consulting and application services delivery. 
Prior to assuming his current position, Naas served as Business Manager Consulting.   In that role, he managed the portfolio of consulting and delivery of solutions delivered by MineRP in South Africa and gained extensive experience in business & management consulting in the mining industry.

Marlise van Zyl

 

Dr. Marlise van Zyl

Chief Consulting Officer

Marlise van Zyl is responsible for methodologies and integration across MineRP’s International Consulting Practice.  She has extensive experience in business consulting, spanning areas such as Change Management, Business Improvement and Business Process re-engineering mainly in the mining industry.  Prior to assuming this position, Marlise fulfilled a variety of roles including Account Manager, Business Consulting Manager and Principal Business Consultant. 

Marlise holds a doctoral degree in Organisational Behaviour from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and an MBA from the University of the Free State, South Africa.

Empie Strydom

 

Empie Strydom

Vice President, Marketing

Empie Strydom is responsible for the global marketing and communications strategy of MineRP, and also maintains the intellectual property portfolio for the company.
Empie has been with MineRP for ten years, starting out in the software development team and later heading up business development before being appointed as marketing manager in 2007. Empie’s academic background is in computer science and surveying from the University of Pretoria, and he holds several industry certifications in software development and project management. 

Donald Kloppers

 

Donald Kloppers

Vice President, Corporate Services

Donald Kloppers oversees corporate business standards and practices in MineRP. Before taking responsibility for corporate services, Donald headed up the Business Consulting division of the company, after joining MineRP in 2007. 

Donald holds a B Com and Hons degree in Business Management from the University of Stellenbosch and has close to 17 years business experience in the IT, Consulting and Mining environments.  Donald started his career in the financial and mining business consulting arena. Before joining MineRP, he was involved in various business domains in MineRP’s holding company (Gijima Holdings), including a 3 and half year stint in its Namibian operations. 

Sermet Ilhan  

Sermet Ilhan

General Manager, MineRP Eurasia

Sermet İlhan is a Mining Engineer with over 20 years of engineering and operational experience in mining & mining consulting fields. After obtaining his mining degree from Technical University of İstanbul in Turkey 1988, he immigrated to South Africa and started his mining career firstly in mine production, mine management and mine planning. He carried on his profession as a Principal Consultant Mining Engineer for the mining and mineral industry in and around South Africa. Sermet moved back to Turkey in August 2008, and joined MineRP in April 2010. His main role is to create business relationships with local and international mining companies in and around Turkey and to create sustainable growth of MineRP into other countries in Europe and Asia.

 

Enrique Faúndez

General Manager, Latin America

Enrique Faundez is responsible for business development in the Latin American region. He joined  MineRP  in 2010 in our Chile office as a Senior Mining Consultant.
Prior to joining MineRP, Enrique worked in general, commercial and technical management in the mining  software's houses for Latin American Market with huge knowledge in the local mining culture, and was working consulting, bringing to bear his high level of design and strategic planning experience. Enrique is a mining engineer from Universidad of Santiago of Chile (USACH).
